We are living in the greatest extinction of species in history. Languages are also dying, as well as music and associated sounds. The program, developed with Aida Shirazi and Emre Dündar, traces the lost to find new connections in faded memories.
"When we think about the future, we should start from the feelings. Feelings are from the future. (...) If I listen to music today that moves me at my core, tomorrow I may have empathy for a seabird or a hedgehog in the garden. Empathy is the first step in feeling connected to other, non-human things." Timothy Morton in VAN Outernational
Aida Shirazi explores forgotten sounds, Emre Dündar lost languages, whose secrets he traces in his compositions. Interwoven with ancient music compositions along borders, and new approaches to old songs from the island of Chios their works (composition, electronics, voice) flow into the future of connection with other sounds and species.
